This is a rarity, I warn you. I never ever blog unless there’s a recipe included. It’s just my way. It’s not right or wrong but it’s how I like my blog to look and feel. I guess I feel a little protective of my third child.
Anyway, this time I am making an exception because it’s a very special reason. Applications are open for the Great British Bake Off Series 3! For those of you umming and ahhing about whether to apply, my advice would be; go for it. Someone once told me you only regret the things you don’t do. Now I’m not sure that’s strictly true, for example I’m glad I didn’t go to a New Year’s eve party 4 years ago. If I’d gone I wouldn’t be sitting here in a house full of plastic toys, for that’s the night Mr B proposed. But in the case of the Bake Off I’d say it’s most certainly true.
Lots of people have asked my advice on Twitter and Facebook about whether to apply, what to say in their application form and what to do if they get an audition. The only advice I have is to go for it and, of course, be yourself. I know that is very Mumsy advice but well, that’s what I am and anyway, Mum’s know best.
Good luck! Click here for an application form or call 020 7067 4823. If you want to know more about behind the scenes take a look here.

I’ve applied, but not heard anything back. Is this normal or have they rejected me already lol?
Not sure – I would call them if it’s been a while. x
Thanks.

Hi, Holly, I like so many others have the application form, keeping looking at it and putting it off. Having read this blog post, you have given me the nudge I needed to get on and apply. So wish me luck!
p.s My husband thought “you was robbed”( as the saying goes) in the GBBO!
GOOD LUCK! Go for it. Go on…. now! x
Thanks for the advice Holly. Am definitely umming and ahhing. My experience is limited in bread and pastry, so thinking do I just work on those over the next 12 months and apply next year, or do I just go for it now!
I sent my application last week – I did ummm, and I did arrr, but you were all such an inspiration of Series 2 that I thought why not? I probably wont get a call anyway…….
But then again you may well might do! Keep everything crossed and well done for applying. Xx Sent using BlackBerry® from Orange
