This is how it started. All grump and tantrum over not being allowed to sit in 27 degree heat without a sun hat. When you’re 1 it’s important to look cool on the beach. Who cares about sun stroke?
Poor third born had to sit and watch all kinds of fun involving stone throwing and running in and out of the sea.
So maybe the hat wasn’t so bad after all…
Just as long as nobody was looking.
Anyway, it was way too hot for little people so we went for drinks at Munchies. Charlie chose a mint choc chip milkshake which was, frankly, delicious.
Although I may have had to help him with the whipped cream. He’s not a fan. Onwards we went to The Regatta for lunch. And oh my, I’m glad we did.
Perfect olives.
And the best sea trout lunch Mr Bell has ever eaten, complete with samphire.
I was pretty keen on my chicken Caesar salad. The chicken was wrapped and preened to be anything but dry.
And it did come with chips. As did the boys homemade chicken nuggets. (I may have scoffed at such a choice but they were bloody wonderful).
With the sweetest peas ever served on a kids menu. And then there was pudding. This is summer pudding. We chose it because we thought it might be awful. It wasn’t. (We are strange like this).
It was made with brioche you see. And the kids brownie was good too.
Though if I were being a bit mean I’d say the brownie were made with too high cocoa solids chocolate. It was almost, I did say almost, dry. But it wasn’t, so phew.
Mr Bell took it upon himself to be the keeper of the puddings with two spoons, two puds and a glass of something sticky.
So we needed a walk to, well, walk it all off.
We had to make a run for it. And I’m afraid I didn’t get a picture of that.
