Buzzy Bee Breakfast at Wyevale Garden Centre

I love bees. Bees are good. We all know that. Trying to convince my little boys that anything buzzy is a good thing is not so easy when one of them has been strung by a wasp and hence, all things that buzz and fly are potential givers of pain.

In steps the Buzzy Bee Breakfast at Wyevale Garden Centre . We were invited to experience the Buzzy Bee breakfast (or tea) by the lovely folks of the Wyevale. The deal is that you make Buzzy Bee Boppers (a head band with springy bees on the top) have breakfast, go on a bee fact finding business, decorate cupcakes with bees, decorate cookies and leave with a balloon, seeds and bubbles. I am exhausted just writing that list. It was such a full and packed morning (it’s £10 per place) that we all needed a little sleep when we got home. Lawrence took advantage of sleeping in the car.

Let me show you how much fun it was.

First off I should confess that we missed the bee bopper craft session as we were late. Yes reader, late. I am ashamed as I am a hater of late folks. And now I am one. I apologised profusely and blushed a lot. The very kind man leading the session gave us a bee bopper kit to take home each. Which we did. In fact he even gave us a spare. Anyway, moving on from my shame…

We ate breakfast. This is what the boys had (they are all bean rejectors but they could have had these too).

I ate a HUGE fry up (as did my mother and father) that was incredibly delicious. As was the tea. And coffee. (Me? A glutton?)

Laurie enjoyed his sausage.

Mr Buzzy Bee told us about the upcoming bee fact finding hunt:

And then off we jolly well went:

Mr Buzzy bee handled a rather ‘spirited’ boy (not mine for once) with grace and humour. We all searched for bee facts and stuck our stickers on our little fact sheets.

We skipped back to Nanny and Baa Baa (my parents)

And cracked on with a little cake decorating. The cakes were ready baked, the buttercream made, the sprinkles measured out (though Laurie used his as a shot) and the fondant carefully portioned. They had even made tiny little child friendly icing bags for painting stripes on the bees.

And then we decorated some biscuits.

And then there were bubbles.

And then there were balloons.

And seeds.

And a photo opportunity before soft play at the garden centre.

Look at Laurie! What joy! We had an ace time. It’s incredible value for money. Thoroughly recommended by all of us. Especially Nanny who got a hug from Buzzy Bee too. The photo shall remain for our eyes only.

NB: We were invited to experience the Buzzy Bee Breakfast in exchange for an honest review.
